Graduation Rates

MORROW COUNTY, OR – February 4, 2026 – The Oregon Department of Education released its 2024-25 cohort graduation rates on January 30th, revealing a historic milestone for the Morrow County School District (MCSD). For the fifth consecutive year, the district has achieved an overall graduation rate exceeding 96%.

The Class of 2025 continues to set the bar high with a district-wide rate of 96.7%, a figure that represents a comprehensive success story for students, families, and the wider community.

Notably, MCSD’s data reveals that specific focus groups are performing in the 90th percentile, significantly outperforming the state average in the same groups. This data underscores the district’s success in closing the achievement gap and ensuring equity in education.

"We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2025," said Superintendent Matt Combe. "A 96.7% graduation rate is not just a number; it reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the unwavering support of our communities. To see our focus groups performing above the 90th percentile and well above the state average proves that when provided with the right resources and support, every student can succeed."

School-Specific Highlights: The district saw exceptional performances across its campuses, with two high schools achieving a perfect graduation rate:

  • Heppner Jr/Sr High School: 100%

  • Riverside Jr/Sr High School: 100%

  • Irrigon Jr/Sr High School: 95.7%

  • Morrow Education Center: 81%

District leadership attributes this sustained success to the "student-first" approach championed by the MCSD School Board and robust regional partnerships.

Two key initiatives have had a tremendous impact on student outcomes:

  1. The CARE / Wraparound Program: Providing essential support structures to ensure student well-being.

  2. Port of Morrow Partnership: A strategic collaboration that provides students with internships and early college credits at no cost, bridging the gap between high school and career ready success.

"Our strong partnerships within the county and across the region allow us to develop programs that not only help support, but also challenge our students," Superintendent Combe noted. "These initiatives are removing barriers and opening doors for the successes we are seeing today."
