MORROW COUNTY, Ore. — The Morrow County School District is inviting community members to attend a public forum on Wednesday, May 20 at 5 p.m. at Irrigon Junior/Senior High School to review the design of the new school facility and learn more about the next phase of the voter-approved bond project.
During the forum, representatives from SĀJ Architecture will present the design developed by the local Design Advisory Committee for the replacement of Irrigon Junior/Senior High School and answer questions. Attendees will have the opportunity to view preliminary plans and learn about the design process and next steps.
The new Irrigon school is the first of three major school facility projects planned as part of the Morrow County School District’s 2025 voter-approved bond measure and was prioritized based on immediate facility needs identified by the district.
“The community has played a huge role in supporting and shaping this project from the beginning,” said MCSD Superintendent Matt Combe. “We’re excited about this opportunity for residents, families, students, and staff to see how their feedback is influencing the design of a new school that will serve Irrigon students for generations.”
Since November, a local Design Advisory Committee (DAC) made up of students, staff, parents, and community members has worked alongside SĀJ Architecture and project partners to guide the planning and design process. Committee members have participated in workshops, reviewed floor plans and site concepts, and helped identify priorities that reflect the unique needs and identity of the Irrigon community.
The Irrigon project will continue through schematic design over the coming months, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027. The district’s additional bond projects — including the renovation of Riverside Junior/Senior High School in Boardman and the Heppner K-12 campus project — will move forward on separate timelines. Additional security upgrades at primary schools will also be completed this summer.
