Do you read the AC Houghton Elementary School Newsletter? Every month, a newsletter is sent home with students. In each one a free resource is shared with parents. Currently, I am reading a free book titled "I Love You Rituals: Fun Activities for Parents and Children" that I received from The Ford Family Foundation. This book is written by Dr. Becky Bailey who created the Conscious Discipline program that we use at school. The book shares games geared for infants through age eight. The rituals are designed to:
prime a child's brain for learning;
enhance attention, cooperation, and self-esteem;
help children cope with change;
help busy families stay close;
and affirm the parent-child bond that insulates children from trauma.
