Battle of the Books

A.C. Houghton 3rd grade students have the opportunity to be part of a wonderful program called Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB).  This is a fun competition that will encourage students to read a wide range of genres and authors.  It is also a great exercise in teamwork and camaraderie.

Trivia questions about the books will be asked of teams and these competitions are called “battles”. The OBOB battles will be held during the school day. Students are encouraged to read the books on the list at home or on the weekends. Students may choose to borrow the books from school, the public library or purchase the books to read and study before the battles begin in March. E-books and audiobooks are acceptable. We encourage students to form teams of 4-6 students so each team member will need to read 2-3 books minimum.
