This Spring, A.C. Houghton is participating in 'Our School Reads,' a program designed to invite families to engage more deeply with their student's academic journey. Over the next eight weeks, our school community will read Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. Special thanks to all who were in attendance at our Family Literacy night, helping kick off this fun initiative.

Today at 9:28 am we had an unexpected fire alarm as a result of some repairs on our heating system. The building was cleared following established procedures and we notified necessary first responders quickly to ensure the building was safe. We appreciate the quick response from our SRO Deputy Kippley and Morrow County Sheriff's Department, plus the Irrigon Volunteer Fire Department that was at the ready. Our staff and students did an excellent job of properly responding to this alarm and we were able to get back back to learning in a timely manner!

Greetings, Bobcats! The 2025 Lead in Water Test Results for A.C. Houghton Elementary School are now available.
Five fixtures were above the allowable level. Three of the fixtures will be permanently removed from service as they are not vital to the learning environments. The remaining two fixtures have been taken out of service and our remediation process includes replacing the faucets and retesting. We will continue remediation and testing until the levels are within safe range or they will also be permanently removed. For more information about the process, please visit the Oregon Department of Education website.

From December 15th until the 19th, A.C. Houghton students will have the opportunity to show their winter cheer through festive dress up days! Families, please note that we will be dismissing students at 12:45pm on the 19th for the holiday break. We will return on Monday, January 5th.
